Angela and I both received the Lord as children. I was 10 and Angela was much younger than that. Although we were children, we realized, without a shadow of a doubt, that we had a true encounter with Jesus. We recognized that we needed our sins forgiven and that it was only His sacrifice on the cross could save us.  

 

Growing up in the church, we began to be very active in ministry and very committed to walking with Christ.

 

We served in several areas of ministry for many years; namely, Sunday school, evangelism director and team member, children's church, youth ministries, worship and choir leaders/Min. of Music, and men and women adult ministries.

 

Pastor Alvin Johnson Sr.had the privilege of serving as elder for over a decade, then served as part of a close knit pastoral team for the Emmaus Church. He was part of that leadership team for 5 years.  

 

I only mentioned the areas of service above because that was God’s way of

preparing us for pastoral leadership today.
